Turmeric (Curcuma longa)
*****LIVE PLANTS/ROOTS ONLY SHIP WITHIN THE U.S*****
Grow your own fresh Turmeric to eat. This listing is for THREE (3) 3" RHIZOMES/ROOTS (shown). Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is called 'Olena in Hawaiian. Each Maui grown RHIZOME/ROOT IS ABOUT 3" LONG/thumb sized. Plant your Turmeric roots in containers of good potting soil and keep warm (75-85 degrees) and evenly watered. Turmeric prefers shade and will eventually produce a large white 'flower' looking spike in the middle that is called an 'Inflorescence'.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS FOR 3 LIVE RHIZOMES, Shipped bare root/no soil. THERE IS NO SOIL OR LEAVES. PLEASE BE READY TO PLANT YOUR LIVE TURMERIC RHIZOMES ON ARRIVAL. USE A CONTAINER OF GOOD POTTING SOIL AND BURY YOUR RHIZOMES ABOUT 5-7" DEEP.
Plant your Turmeric roots in the Fall months and harvest once the bottom leaves start to yellow, about 10 months later.
Please google the many uses for the edible herb. Turmeric ('Olena) is also considered one of the 27 Hawaiian Canoe Plants-please google this fascinating term as well if you are not already familiar with it. Written growing instructions are not provided with or after you receive your Turmeric safely. Please plan on researching how to grow this plant in your specific area.
