This item is out of stock

This listing is for 1 (ONE) Mamey Sapote (Pouteria sapota) SEED organically grown on Maui.  Grow this tree from a seed and add this delicious tropical fruit tree to your collection.

Mamey is the largest of the Sapote fruits with an intense deep orangey-peachy color with a unique flavor. This is a very luscious looking and tasting fruit.

Your carefully cleaned seed will arrive wet packed in a damp paper towel inside a sealed plastic baggie. The seed can be left to germinate in the plastic baggie that it arrives in (in a dark part of house, not in direct sunlight).  Once you have observed your seed start to develop,  you can plant your giant seed in a container of good potting soil and keep evenly watered.   A good rule of thumb with seeds is to plant them the depth that they are the size of.  This is a giant seed.  Lay it on it's side and bury a couple of inches below soil surface.  Always start your seeds in containers of good potting soil and these tropical fruit seeds/trees MUST be keep warm (75-85 degrees) at all times (no cool night temperatures either).  We grow everything outdoors here in Maui's year round growing climate and will not be able to advise you how to grow plants in your area.

We do suggest once you observe your seed germinate to grow it in a container and get a nice root system going before thinking about planting it in the ground. Please read up on growing this rare tropical fruit tree in your specific area.  Written growing directions are not provided with or after you have received your live seed successfully.
We offer several types of other Maui grown Sapote seeds while they are in season.  Please see our separate listings for individual Yellow or Black Sapote seeds.

We also offer a 'Maui Sapote Seed Collection' with 3 packs of each type of seed while in season here:https://mauiseeds.com/products/sapote-seed-collection3-types
