This listing is for (5) FIVE freshly collected BLACK Surinam Cherry SEEDS from Maui grown fruit. Surinam Cherry (Eugenia uniflora) is also known by the common names, Pitanga or Brazilian cherry.
We wet pack these freshly collected seeds in damp paper toweling.  Please germinate your live, wet packed seeds indoors in the baggie that they arrive in.  Keep 75-85 degrees, no sunlight needed until you have leaves.
This listing is for the darker, deep purple ‘Black’ Surinam.  We also offer the deep red colored Surinam Cherry.
WRITTEN GROWING INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT PROVIDED WITH OR AFTER YOU RECEIVE YOUR LIVE SEEDS SAFELY.  THESE SEEDS ARE TROPICAL AND MUST BE KEPT 75-85 DEGREES AT ALL TIMES.
Surinam Cherry is a rugged little plant that is very easy to grow.  This  plant is considered a shrub but we prune ours to be a small tree.   Surinam cherry can also be grown in a container, as a houseplant, or a Bonsai specimen.
Surinam cherry (Eugenia uniflora) produces fruit several times a year.  The pumpkin shaped cherries  are very high in vitamin C and turn a delightful red color when ripe.  The taste is very tart and they are juicy, especially if there has been a lot of rainfall.  We like to pick the cherries and eat them fresh, they are also excellent used in pies and jellies also.
Please keep these seeds 75-85 degrees at all times.
