Black Sapote (Diospyros digyna) Seedlings

  It will take TWO Black Sapote trees to produce fruit, so we offer these seedlings in a two pack.

This listing is for TWO (2) Chocolate/Black Sapote (Diospyros digyna) LIVE SEEDLING trees grown in our Haiku, Maui garden.  Each seedling is about 6" high.  Hawaii state Agricultural Inspection is included with listing price.   ***ALL LIVE PLANTS SHIP BARE ROOT/N SOIL*****

This exotic fruit is also commonly known as 'Chocolate pudding tree, it is related to a Persimmon.  Be the first of your Gardening Friends to grow this unique, somewhat rare fruit tree.  You will want to grow TWO Black Sapote trees in your garden to make sure that one of your trees will set fruit.  

PLEASE NOTE that BLACK SAPOTE SEEDS WILL DEVELOP A WHITE ROOT THAT WILL DARKEN/BLACKEN AT THE TIPS AS IT GROWS.  THIS IS NORMAL. THE TREE ALSO MAKES A DARK TRUNK AND THIS IS NORMAL FOR BLACK SAPOTE.

 Please keep your seedling tree warm (75-85 degrees) at all times.

Chocolate Sapote  fruit has the most unique flavor.  It tastes similar to chocolate mousse or to us, more like a chocolate lilikoi.  If you have never tried a Black Sapote, you must try one.  The fruit is green on the outside at first and ripens very quickly, it is only ready to eat once the skin turns black and the fruit pulp is BLACK inside.  (Please never eat the green fruit, only the deep rich ripe black pulp).
